• The Crawshay Cup Competition exists to encourage the writing of new material for the stage and to encourage amateur groups to perform new work.

It is awarded annually to an original one act play receiving its festival premier in the first round (in Wales) of the National Festival of Community Theatre – otherwise known as the regional one act festivals.

The Winner of the Crawshay Cup will be awarded to the Author of the winning entry at the Wales Final Festival of One-Act Plays.

The competition is administered by Sue Jones, Vice Chair, Drama Association of Wales. This year once again the competition will be judged by an independent judge.

Entries must not have been published before their performance in the Wales Regional One-Act Festival Round which is part of the National Festival of Community Theatre.
They may be performed in one local run prior to the festival.

Deadline for entries is Monday 10th February 2025

  • Are you thinking of entering your school/youth drama group for a festival in the next twelve months?,

    COULD £100 MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

The GODA Bursary for youth groups is now in it’s third year, and for scores of young people this funding has really made a difference!

We’ve supported youth groups right across the country, with a bursary of £100 to offset the cost of a variety of things ranging from entry fees, performance licenses, to costumes props and set, rehearsal space and transport. It’s also been fantastic to support young people who have been lucky enough to progress to a further round of competition.

Our focus is on reaching youth groups who’ve not previously applied for this bursary, especially groups who are considering entering a drama festival for the first time.

The first opportunity to apply for the bursary in 2024/25 opens on 16th September and closes on 1st November. Details can be found on the GODA website. Simply complete the form and email it to treasurer@godauk.com
